WZRU
WZRU provides educational, cultural and fine arts
programming to previously unserved communities of
Northeastern North Carolina and Southside Virginia.

here. The staff and volunteers of WZRU are committed to a
partnership with civic, professional, business and
educational organizations in the region to promote their
activities and accomplishments. Communities served
by a station of this type are more attractive to economic
growth and development. Every aspect of the
community is affected in a positive manner by a local
community owned radio station.
Operation
WZRU Radio is a noncommercial community owned radio station
with the mission to provide a diverse programming schedule
that educates, entertains and empowers the listeners. It is operated by a non-profit corporation made up of a board
of trustees that represent a wide range of interests and
abilities. It was founded in 1994 and has thousands
of the most influential individuals listeners. Roanoke Valley Communications, Inc., with
offices in Roanoke Rapids, NC is recognized by all local,
state, and federal agencies as a qualified non-profit
corporation with an acceptable board that represents the
station's service area.
All the civic, educational,
arts, cultural and governmental organizations in this area
are encouraged to utilize the station to improve our
communities.
